Introduction
To provide a focused and well directed development of organic agriculture and quality products, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India launched the National Program for Organic Production (NPOP) in the year 2000, which was formally notified in October 2001 under the Foreign Trade & Development Act (FTDR Act).
As per the DGFT notification 73 (RE-2013)/2009-2014 dated 18 November, 2014, (i) A product will be allowed to be exported as 'Organic Product' only when accompanied by a Transaction Certificate issued by a Certification Body accredited by National Accreditation Body (NAB) for Organic Products under the National Programme for Organic Production of the Department of Commerce.
(ii) 'Organic Products' for export will be so certified only if Produced, Processed and Packed as per the standards laid down in the document 'National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP)'.

Under this accreditation Control Union India can perform inspections and certifications of crop production includes growers group, wild collection, livestock, poultry, beekeeping/apiaries, aquaculture, seaweed, aquatic plants, green house crop production, food processing and handling units as per the guidelines of National Program for Organic Production (NPOP).

How does it work?
The application form available on the website can be filled and sent to cuorganic@controlunion.com in order to enable us send you a offer letter along with the terms for certification. Once you return the signed copy of the offer letter as your acceptance for NPOP certification and pay the prescribed fees, Control Union India will plan audits of your production / farmer group/ wild collection / processing unit / trading unit in order to assess the unit's compliance against NPOP standards.
After all the necessary inspections have been fulfilled Control Union India shall provide you with a report of findings. Based on the contents of this report of findings, Control Union India shall decide whether or not to grant you a certification.
