ISO 17029 - ISO 14065 - Sri Lanka
Control Union has established a verification program in accordance with internationally recognized standards to ensure credibility, impartiality, and technical rigor in its validation and verification services.
ISO/IEC 17029:2019 – General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodies This standard provides the overarching principles and requirements for bodies performing validation and verification. It ensures that such bodies operate in a consistent, impartial, and competent manner. By aligning with ISO/IEC 17029, Control Union demonstrates adherence to globally accepted practices in governance, competence, consistent operation, and impartial decision-making throughout its verification processes.
ISO 14065:2020 – Requirements for bodies validating and verifying environmental information This standard specifies additional requirements for bodies that validate and verify environmental information, such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other sustainability-related data. It builds on the principles of ISO/IEC 17029 and provides environmental-specific criteria, ensuring that the verification of environmental information is accurate, reliable, and transparent. By complying with ISO 14065:2020, Control Union guarantees that its environmental verification services meet the highest levels of integrity and reliability expected by regulators, stakeholders, and the public.
In carrying out its verification activities, Control Union applies ISO 14064-3:2019, which provides the principles and detailed requirements for the validation and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions. This standard ensures that GHG data and reports are assessed with rigor, consistency, and transparency, thereby enhancing trust in the results.
Further, the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) has formally accredited Control Union’s verification program for ISO 14064-1:2018 (Specification with guidance at the organization level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals). This accreditation confirms that Control Union’s verification activities are conducted in full compliance with international best practices and meet the competency, impartiality, and consistency requirements established by SLAB under ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO 14065.
Through the integration of these standards and accreditation, Control Union delivers verification services that are recognized both locally and internationally, ensuring that clients’ environmental information and GHG assertions are credible, robust, and in full compliance with accreditation requirements.
