The food industry is deeply involved in the halal issue. More and more producers want access to the growing Muslim markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Even Muslim consumers in their own countries are an increasingly interesting target group with high purchasing power and a highly developed awareness of brands and quality. The issue “halal” is not limited to the product itself. To obtain certification, the whole production chain including the raw materials, the production processes, warehouse, logistics and trade must be consistently considered and classified as “halal”. Therefore, the issue halal includes all segments from agriculture over manufacturing up to the retail sector so that halal products get additional quality attributes. They are produced under stringent hygienic, ethical and moral standards. High requirements make the Halal-Certification interesting for all consumers who attach great importance to quality and surveillance. This can also be relevant for products from the cosmetic, textile, medicine and pharmacy industry.
A Halal-Certification according to Qibla Food Control Standard offers security and transparency for both consumers and producers. The standard was developed corporately by Muslim authorities and experts from the industry. It describes the Islamic theological requirements for halal and haram and puts them in the form of an objectively verifiable standard as procedure and test report.
