The FSSC 22000 Scheme is a GFSI recognised Food Safety Management System certification Scheme. The FSSC 22000 Scheme focuses on assuring food safety by defining, evaluating and controlling risks and hazards during processing, manufacturing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution, handling or offering for sale or supply in any sector of the food chain. FSSC 22000 certification comprises of three components: ISO 22000, the relevant PRP specification/s (ISO/TS standards) and the FSSC 22000 Scheme Requirements. The FSSC 22000 Scheme requirements include the FSSC 22000 Additional Requirements, Scheme Interpretation Articles, and the BoS decision list. On 31 March 2023, the Foundation FSSC published Version 6 of the FSSC 22000 scheme. Version 6 will have a 12-month transition window to allow organizations to prepare for the new Version and CBs for implementation. The first audits to Version 6 commenced 1 April 2024. All organizations must complete the V6 upgrade audit before 31 March 2025. The FSSC 22000 scheme is owned by the Foundation, and FSSC registered certification bodies can provide third party certification in the standard. Sys.: BIII: Pre-process handling of plant products C0: Animal: Primary conversion CI: Processing of perishable animal products CII: Processing of perishable plant-based products CIII: Processing of perishable animal- and plant products (mixed products) CIV: Processing of ambient stable products G: Transport and storage services I: Production of packaging material K: Production of Bio-chemicals The certification cycle of FSSC 22000 is three years (3 years) consisting of an initial audit of two stages (stage 1, and stage 2) followed scheme evaluation audits. Where successful, a FSSC 22000 certificate will be granted with a validity of three years, and your certification status will appear on the FSSC22000 database and at Control Union Certifications website.
