The FSSC 22000 Scheme is a GFSI recognised Food Safety Management System certification Scheme. Developed through extensive and open consultation with many global stakeholders, the Scheme uses international and independent standards such as ISO 22000, ISO/TS 22003, and technical specifications for sector-specific Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs), such as ISO/TS 22002-1. The FSSC 22000 Scheme focuses on assuring food safety by defining, evaluating and controlling risks and hazards during processing, manufacturing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution, handling or offering for sale or supply in any sector of the food chain.
The FSSC 22000 scheme is owned by the Foundation, is accredited, and FSSC registered certification bodies can provide third party certification in the standard. CUC offers a licensed Certification against the FSSC 22000 Scheme for the following food chain sub-categories: - CI Processing of perishable animal products (accredited) - CII Processing of perishable plant products (accredited) - CIII Processing of perishable animal and plant products (mixed products) (accredited) - CIV Processing of ambient stable products (accredited) - DI Production of feed (accreditation pending) - DIIa Production of pet food (only for dogs and cats) (accreditation pending) - DIIb Production of pet food (for other pets) (accreditation pending) - GI Provision of transport and storage services for perishable food and feed (accreditation pending) - GII Provision of transport and storage services for ambient stable food, feed and packaging materials (accreditation pending) - I Production of food packaging and packaging materials (accredited) - K Production of Bio-chemicals (accredited)
The certification cycle of FSSC 22000 is three years (3 years) consisting of an initial audit of two stages (stage 1, and stage 2) followed by a minimum annual surveillance audit. Surveillance audits are carried out at least once a year, and one of the surveillance audits within the 3-year cycle shall be conducted unannounced. The date of the first surveillance takes place at last 12 months from the last day of the initial audit.
Where successful, an FSSC 22000 certificate will be granted with a validity of three years, and your certification status will appear on the FSSC22000 database and at Control Union Certifications website. The certificate will show the accreditation logo for accredited scopes. For more information please contact your local CUC office.
